Linda PatePrecious Memories was birthed on July 24, 2004. As we approach our two year anniversary we find ourselves reflecting on the journey thus far. It has been a blessed event. One filled with great moments of surprise and awe as we’ve felt the community embrace us one workshop, poetry reading, and retreat at a time. Our dream has been to “build the community by connecting with books” but have found that it’s been about so much more; something that forged the foundation of the neighborhoods surrounding our store – good, old-fashioned caring, kindness and friendship. Thank you.

In our world of hustle and bustle, time is a commodity and relaxation is just a word. Here at Precious Memories we help you release the tensions of life. Come enjoy one of our spa retreats, listen to soft music, or perhaps come to our poetry night events and hear from one of our local authors. If solitude is what you have in mind or just some quiet reading time, stop in and check out one of the books on the shelf while enjoying a cup of coffee or herbal tea. Bring in your laptops for pleasure or work as we offer free wireless services.

Our services are not limited to just the adults; we offer unique reading programs for community students such as: The ‘Talking Book’, ‘Lets Read’ and the ‘Dream Readers’. We are a Community Outreach organization with a clear vision and a passion for Richmond’s children and youth. As an ‘Outreach Bookstore’, we believe that if the young can catch the ‘dream to read’, the outcome will be a lifetime of creative potential that will impact not only the Richmond community, but our nation as a whole. No child can be left behind if they excel in reading!

Our newest endeavor “Author of the Month” was designed to spotlight our local authors by affording them the exposure on our website and helping them get their books off the shelves and into the hands of the community. We have enjoyed meeting many of our local authors and look forward to making the acquaintance of even more.

Do you need a meeting place for your book club or other organization? How about a space for your special event? We can provide that for you. Call us for more details on our customized rental packages for your workshops, bridal meetings or perhaps a tea party. We can provide a comfortable environment for approximately 30 people.

Continue to check our website for members’ only specials. Sign-Up today and begin receiving your discounts.

Black PainBlack Pain identifies emotional pain -- which uniquely and profoundly affects the Black experience -- as the root of lashing out through desperate acts of crime, violence, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, workaholism, and addiction to shopping, gambling, and sex. Few realize these destructive acts are symptoms of our inner sorrow.
